About Santa Teresa Costa Rica
Located near the western tip of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula and just north of the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, the small surf village of Santa Teresa Costa Rica is gaining popularity. Santa Teresa sits just north of another growing surf spot, Mal Pais. These two villages seemingly become one as you drive north along the Pacific Coast. This entire area consists of gravel roads covering a little less than 6km.
Not too long ago the area was primarily a remote fishing village, and has become a hidden tourist gem as travel to the area has become easier. Better roads, bigger ferries and domestic flights into the region have made the area more accessible.
This small surf village located near Playa Santa Teresa is becoming a world renowned surf area. With various types of breaks in the vicinity, surfers of all levels can find the perfect surf spot. If you are looking to surf Costa Rica you have to look closely at this area.
